Sacred Heart Church

The Government's Access 4 All and Open 4 All initiatives to open up historic buildings and architecture to disabled people became law in October 2004. This has created a demand for innovative access solutions such as the ramp designed and installed at the Sacred Heart Church in Wimbledon.

A new entrance was created cutting through existing flint work. A new Quatrefoil window was formed mirroring the head of the existing window. The ramp and twist plinth created a semi-circular pathway infilled with shot-sawn non-slip York stone paving creating access capable of taking wheelchairs.
