As part of a general renovation of the Maiden’s Tower, Massey Masonry were chosen to undertake the repairs to the stonework. Wells Cathedral Stonemasons were chosen to produce any replacement stone.

Replacement stone was manufactured using Richemont bleu limestone from France, supplied by DBPM, Créteil, France. This was chosen as a suitable replacement for the original Kentish ragstone.

The elevations were brushed down to remove friable stone, repointed, the larger cracks being galletted, limewatered and sheltercoated.

There were extensive repairs to the windows, and all the parapet merlon/embrasure coping stones replaced.
